Salary Range: $102,000 - $117,000/year
Purpose of the Job
Lead cost estimation and sourcing activities for client programs, with a primary focus on electronic components
Collaborate closely with costing, engineering, manufacturing, program management, and supplier quality teams to:
Ensure project milestones are met
Achieve best total cost outcomes for new programs
Support supplier development initiatives to enable continuous business growth and strong supplier partnerships
Participate in pricing negotiations and development of strategic supplier strategies
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the purchasing representative within cross-functional project teams
Support projects from acquisition through APQP, launch, and the full program lifecycle (VA/VE)
Drive sourcing efforts for new components from project acquisition through industrialization, including:
Managing major make/buy market changes
Analyzing future material and supply needs
Evaluate risks within the current supply base and collaborate with:
Supply Chain
Manufacturing
Develop and manage contingency plans for new component sourcing
Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality on:
Identification and evaluation of new technical and supplier partners
Early supplier involvement for new products and customer quotations
Negotiate and manage supplier contracts that protect:
Quality standards
Delivery requirements
Lean and cost-competitive principles
Prevent delays to SOP (Start of Production)
Ensure a smooth handoff to production purchasing
Achieve and maintain Bill of Material (BOM) cost targets by:
Partnering with Engineering teams
Controlling BOM costs at each project maturity stage or change
Defining actions to close gaps versus target costs
Implement cost-optimized concepts considering:
Material costs
Manufacturing
Development
Quality expenses
Education, Experience, and Knowledge
Bachelor's degree in: Supply Chain Management or Electrical Engineering
MBA or other advanced degree preferred
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, preferably in the automotive industry (Tier 1 experience preferred)
Strong background in both: Electrical Engineering and Purchasing / Strategic Sourcing
3-5 years of Electrical Engineering experience, including: Design, Development, Testing, Troubleshooting of electrical systems and components, Compliance with industry standards
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, including: Direct plant operations and support functions within a product manufacturing organization
Experience in the following product areas preferred:
ECUs
ADAS
EV/HEV systems
HUDs
Skills and Competencies
Technical expertise working with electronic systems and components
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
Proven negotiation and supplier management skills
Project management knowledge
Strong problem-solving, planning, and decision-making abilities
Ability to work effectively with: Interdisciplinary teams & Remote and globally distributed teams
Experience with financial analysis preferred, including: Forecasting & Budget management
High level of customer service orientation
Ability to negotiate and operate across different cultures
Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
Willingness and ability to travel
Spanish or Japanese language capability preferred
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Off-hours as business needs require)
Hybrid position: 2 days onsite / 3 days remote
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% domestic and/or international travel
