Food Service Helper Substitutes

Job Goal
To assist in the preparation and serving of food, and in the cleaning of kitchen equipment.
Performance Responsibilities
Prepares and serves food;
Washes and sanitizes food service utensils and equipment;
Wash and dries dishes, pots and pans;
Operates the cash register;
Cleans up the kitchen, serving areas and mops floors;
Assists with other food service activities required for the operation of the School Lunch Program;
From time to time, performs special duties assigned by the cook;
Some days, performs the job of someone who is absent;
Works cooperatively with the cook and others on any job assigned following directions from the cook;
Is friendly and cordial to students, teachers and staff at all times;
Does related work as needed.
Qualifications
Must have some experience in food service;
Must have the ability to read and write English;
Must have satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience;
Must have elementary knowledge of the proper method of serving food and the care of tableware, glassware, silver and kitchen appliances;
Must have practical working knowledge of modern cleaning methods and use of cleaning supplies and appliances;
Must have ability to follow simple oral and written directions from the School Lunch Manager and/or Cook;
Must have physical strength and stamina;
Must be in good physical condition.
