We specialize in designing, developing, implementing, and supporting integrated advanced technology systems to address complex business challenges. Our core proprietary technologies incorporate artificial intelligence applications, including video analytics-based security applications, intelligent process controls, and information technologies for a wide range of global customers. For more information, please visit http://www.duostech.com/.
We are seeking a contract mechanical designer who combines strong CAD proficiency with practical fabrication insight and creative problem solving. The ideal candidate is experienced in SolidWorks, sheet metal design, and CNC-based manufacturing, and can take broad design goals and translate them into production-ready components and assemblies.
This role is suited to someone who enjoys balancing hands‑on manufacturability with conceptual freedom — someone comfortable making informed design choices that reduce cost, simplify assembly, and improve overall product quality.
This role is a 6‑month contract, located in Jacksonville, but mostly a remote support.
Responsibilities and Duties
Develop detailed SolidWorks models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings with appropriate tolerances and GD&T.
Design for sheet metal, CNC machining, and welded assemblies.
Work directly from concept sketches, photos, or design briefs, taking creative ownership to achieve functional goals.
Apply DFM/DFA principles to simplify production and reduce fabrication time.
Interface with internal stakeholders or vendors to review manufacturability and implement design improvements.
Create BOMs, exploded views, and documentation packages suitable for shop release.
Participate in weekly design reviews and provide rationale for design decisions.
Support limited prototype or field integration activities as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
Proficiency in SolidWorks, including sheet metal, weldments, and assembly management.
Working knowledge of CNC machining, laser cutting, press brake, and fabrication workflows.
Understanding of tolerancing, materials, and finishing processes.
Ability to think independently while maintaining alignment with project intent.
Strong communication skills and ability to explain design rationale visually and verbally.
Education and Experience
2+ years of experience in mechanical design, product development, or fabrication engineering.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant field.
Disclaimer This scope of work is not intended to cover or contain an exhaustive list of all tasks, responsibilities, or services that may be required. The nature and scope of the services may be modified, expanded, or reduced at any time, with or without notice, at the discretion of Duos Technologies, Inc.

As such, this engagement does not establish any form of employment relationship, does not guarantee ongoing or future work, and may be terminated by either party at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice, in accordance with the terms of the applicable independent contractor agreement.
Duos Technologies, Inc. is committed to providing equal opportunity in all contractor engagements. Selection of contractors is made without regard to age, color, disability, gender, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, protected veteran status, or any other classification protected by federal, state, or local law.
Because independent contractors are not employees, they are not subject to the Company’s employment‑related policies; however, contractors may be required to comply with applicable safety, security, background screening, and site‑access requirements associated with the services being performed. Any required screenings or verifications will be communicated prior to engagement. Duos Technologies, Inc. will consider reasonable accommodations for disability or religious reasons when feasible and when such accommodations do not create undue hardship for the Company.
