TEACHER - SHOP/INDUSTRIAL ARTS - HIGH SCHOOL
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is in a high school Industrial Technology classroom. The facility is both a classroom and a shop for students to experience classes such as Home Maintenance, Exploring Technology (STEM type projects), Marketing, etc. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaches district approved curriculum Creates a safe and respectful classroom environment for all learners Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology to engage all learners Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all lessons and units Uses a variety of formative and summative assessments Takes a trauma-sensitive approach when working with students Communicates professionally to students, parents, and colleagues Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations Ability to adhere to and teach all students shop / tools safety protocols Ability to manage students in a large project-based environment Ability to work with community partners for fundraising/supplies/and project ideas Other duties may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited college or university required Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with a TE endorsement or on an alternative path/route to obtain the required endorsement(s) Must be highly qualified as defined by the Michigan State Dept. of Education Experience working with at-risk youth High degree of technology skills (Google Suite) Experience/Coursework in MTSS and PBIS preferred, but not required Desire to collaborate with peers and work as a team TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Position starts this school year. Wages, benefits, and work year as defined in the Teachers’ Master Agreement SALARY:
Commensurate with experience and background based upon Salary Schedule in the AEA Master Agreement LOCATION:
