Job Selection Expectations:
Applications, resumes, letters of reference, and written samples will be reviewed for required certification; demonstrated related knowledge, skills, and abilities; and ability to communicate effectively. As candidates progress through the selection process, they may be asked to perform additional written exercises, complete panel interviews, and perform a sample lesson related to the subject area.

Applicants are expected to possess a valid and appropriate certificate for the vacant position at the time of application as well as all necessary clearances. Additional qualifications and experience will be considered and may be necessary or desirable for individual positions along with a demonstrated competency in writing and communication skills.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of secondary mathematics content, including geometry, algebraic foundations, transformations, coordinate geometry, and mathematical reasoning
Knowledge of introductory computer science concepts
Familiarity with commonly used coding platforms
Understanding of state academic standards for mathematics and computer science
Knowledge of effective instructional practices
Ability to design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in both traditional mathematics and applied coding environments
Skill in explaining abstract concepts clearly through multiple representations and real-world applications
Strong classroom management skills in both structured academic settings and collaborative, lab-style learning environments
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students new to coding and students requiring enrichment
Skill in using instructional technology such as learning management systems, interactive displays, and coding tools
Ability to design, implement, and evaluate both traditional assessments and performance-based projects
Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
Ability to collaborate effectively with math, special education, and support staff
Ability to create an inclusive learning environment that encourages risk-taking, perseverance, and confidence in math and technology
Ability to adapt instruction based on student performance data and formative assessment
Ability to manage multiple course preparations effectively while maintaining high-quality instruction
Ability to integrate cross-curricular skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity
Ability to maintain a safe, productive classroom culture in device-rich environments
Commitment to ongoing professional growth in mathematics instruction and computer science education
Anticipated Duration:
This is a long-term substitute position with a starting date on or around
March 2, 2026 through the conclusion of the 2025-2026 school year.
