Field Service Technician (FST) – Grit / Oil-Water Separator (OWS) Position Summary The Field Service Technician I (FST I) is a company driver responsible for delivering exceptional service while servicing grease traps and used cooking oil bins from restaurants, industrial plants, shopping centers, and convenient stores. During the execution of services, our FST’s are responsible for complying with all DOT, state regulations, and company safety and compliance policies.

Starting pay: $27/hr

Schedule: Monday through Friday

Hours: Midnight starts– 12 hour routes (50 to 55 hours a week average)

The Field Service Technician (FST) – Grit / Oil-Water Separator (OWS) is responsible for servicing industrial grit systems, oil-water separators, pits, troughs, and related wastewater infrastructure at commercial and industrial customer sites. This role supports environmental compliance, customer safety, and operational reliability through professional service execution, accurate documentation, and adherence to site-specific requirements.

This position operates specialized service vehicles and equipment and requires a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Essential Job Functions Perform scheduled service and maintenance of grit systems, oil-water separators, pits, troughs, and related infrastructure.

Operate vacuum trucks and related equipment in accordance with company policies and safety procedures.

Remove liquid and solid waste materials, including dense or compacted solids.

Perform visual inspections of systems and identify abnormal conditions, damage, or service concerns.

Conduct manual removal of material when vacuum service alone is insufficient.

Maintain accurate service documentation, including job notes, volumes, and site observations.

Communicate professionally with customer representatives, including operations and safety personnel.

Follow all site-specific safety rules, PPE requirements, and access procedures.

Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and transportation regulations.

Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned vehicle and equipment.

Industrial, commercial, and outdoor environments.

Exposure to weather conditions, odors, and industrial settings.

Work may involve confined or controlled-access areas.

Use of required PPE, including protective clothing and safety equipment.

Physical Requirements Ability to perform physically demanding work, including

frequent heavy lifting

and extended hose handling.

Ability to manually remove compacted solids from pits, sumps, or troughs when required.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working around industrial equipment.

Ability to work in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required (Class A)

Unrestricted License (drive a manual transmission CDL truck)

Ability to safely operate service vehicles and equipment.

Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial systems.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.

Professional communication skills.

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Preferred Experience (Not Required) Industrial wastewater or environmental services experience.

Oil-water separator or grit system service experience.

Vacuum truck or similar equipment operation.

Experience working in regulated or safety-sensitive environments.
