30 hours per week – generally Mon-Fri but some weekend work required by prior agreement
3 children aged 12, 10 and 8 years old
This family are looking for a switched‑on, energetic, warm and friendly housekeeper to help look after their house and family in the countryside, a few miles NE of York. The housekeeper will be responsible for all daily cleaning, laundry and ironing for the family, as well as some ad‑hoc childcare.
The eldest child is at boarding school, with another to follow soon. All three board on an ad‑hoc basis, so the amount of childcare will depend from week to week and term‑time to school holidays. Occasionally there will be in sole charge overnight care required.
The family have a dog and a cat – the housekeeper will be responsible for feeding the pets and walking the dog when the owner is not around, also looking after them when the owners are both in London.
The ideal candidate for this role would be reliable, with plenty of energy and enthusiasm for family life and keeping a sizeable country house tidy and clean. They need to have some flexibility on the hours they work to accommodate the needs of the family. They must enjoy cleaning and get a satisfaction from making a room sparkle and look good. It is a job that somebody can make their own if they are a good self‑starter and independent.
Good cooking skills would be a bonus!
If live in – accommodation is a nice separate flat with a kitchen‑living room, bathroom and bedroom. All bills paid.
