CDL Driver/Rigger

CDL Drivers must safely operate tractor and trailer rigs under DOT regulations to transport equipment and crews to job sites. The role may also involve rigging or crating work. The driver must handle and secure loads while loading/unloading equipment, maintaining safety, and complying with regulations.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily.
Operate flatbed, SD, RGN, and dry van trailers.
Drive tractor and trailer rigs safely under DOT regulations.
Maintain electronic logs.
Secure loads, tarping, tie-down, loading and unloading equipment.
Follow safety requirements when hauling loads.
Operate forklifts and other industrial equipment.
Direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads verbally or with signals to ensure safety.
Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces.
Work well in a team environment and exercise creativity and latitude.
Complete required paperwork daily.
Perform housekeeping duties in assigned area daily.
Execute other job responsibilities as assigned.
Test and set up rigging, including attaching loads, selecting gear (cables, pulleys, winches), and ensuring safety and reliability.
Operate and engage control mechanisms for machines or processes.
Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Class A CDL with air brakes and combination endorsements.
Minimum two (2) years proven driving experience at CDL level.
Minimum three (3) years proven experience in construction service industry or comparable field.
Basic knowledge of operating equipment (forklifts, man lifts, mobile platform lifts, etc.).
Experienced knowledge of load securement and safe hauling practices.
Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials up to 50 pounds. Work may involve long hours and operating heavy equipment.
Additional Requirements Work with top‑of‑mind awareness for safety of self and others. Must work in a high‑functioning team environment. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism. Communicate openly and maintain peak performance daily. Deliver quality service expected by MEI customers.
