JAB Recruitment is actively seeking an Accounting Clerk to support one of our prestigious global engineering and technology firms primarily serving the offshore oil and gas industry, with operations in defense, aerospace and renewables at their Chesapeake Virginia 23320 location.
PLEASE NOTE:
Contract position - estimated 4 months.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the US indefinitely without present or future need for visa sponsorship. No sponsorship available.
Overview
The Accounting Clerk works directly for the Accounting Manager under minimal supervision and supports general accounting responsibilities. Assist in the preparation and processing of accounts payable invoices, journal entries, accounts receivable, time and labor reporting, employee expense reports and assist with audits or annual reporting requirements along with other accounting related tasks.
Individual will perform various routine accounting functions on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, provide audit support and demonstrate the ability to assist other team members when required.
Expectations require stringent attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to communicate effectively within the division. Assignments are well-defined, routine in nature and are covered by established policies and/or procedures.
Responsibilities
Scan and file accounting documents in accordance with record retention guidelines.
Audit and process expense reports.
Reconcile employee advance accounts.
Reconcile vendor statements.
Prepare and process accounts payable invoices and purchase order payments.
Perform weekly Time & Labor Administration responsibilities (all aspects).
Prepare journal entries.
Accounts Receivable (collection calls, invoice entry, AR tracking).
File and maintain accounting records and other clerical reports related to the accounting operation.
Daily interfacing and communication with vendors, employees.
Understand and assist with the Match Exception and RNV reports/account reconciliations (all aspects).
Understand and comply with accounting policies and procedures (SOX, Government Business Systems, corporate and local process/policies/process instructions).
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2-4 years of experience in an accounting environment.
Familiarity with basic accounting procedures.
Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with all levels within the company.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Organizational skills – the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Costpoint and/or Hyland experience (preferred).
