About the Role Pension Investments within Treasury is seeking a
Treasury Specialist
located in
Midland (MI, USA) . This role is part of a team that develops strategy, manages assets, and works with market makers, hedge funds and other investment professionals to manage defined benefit and insurance subsidiary assets. The overall portfolio is greater than $20 billion across more than 11 defined benefit plans in 5+ countries and 5 insurance subsidiaries. The team comprises six finance professionals with experience ranging from Specialist to Director.
Responsibilities
Provides enhanced decision support across all aspects of portfolio management, optimizing processes and reporting.
Creates analytics and reports related to assets, liabilities, GAAP funding, performance, positioning, and risk management.
Measures derivative overlay strategies across fixed income, credit, equity, commodity, and foreign exchange asset classes.
Supports risk measurement activities for Dow’s corporate derivative overlay strategies and pension assets and liabilities.
Advises on optimal long‑term strategic allocation for effective asset/liability management.
Conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis of manager performance.
Drives the onboarding process of new investment managers/funds, including initial due diligence and negotiating key terms.
Conducts economic and capital market research.
Coordinates with pension operation team to optimize efficiency.
Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including compliance, audit, legal, tax, HR, controllers, treasury, custodian, actuary, and external fund managers.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (engineering, finance, or economics) or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience.
Legally eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship available.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior quantitative risk measurement experience.
Experience with trading derivative instruments, measuring their risks, and valuation methods.
Master’s degree or higher education with a finance or quantitative focus.
Prior experience in financial risk management, financial operations, treasury systems, and financial planning.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, regulatory and control environment, and business/financial law.
