Job Summary The primary role of the Maintenance Assistant is to maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as directed by your supervisor, ensuring a successful maintenance program at all times.
Essential Duties
Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, and driveways, including cutting, trimming, and sweeping as needed.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs to the facility and equipment, including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical work.
Clean windows and screens as directed.
Replace burned-out light bulbs, including exit lights, overhead lighting, fluorescent fixtures, and room call lights, and perform general cleaning duties as necessary.
Service heating and cooling units and systems according to manufacturer specifications and established policies.
Perform unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed.
Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area.
Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor, no matter how minor.
Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
Other related duties may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, or administrator.
Qualifications
Preferred: Knowledge and experience using power tools such as skill saws, table saw, reciprocating saw, hammer, nail gun, and power drill with drill bits.
Must demonstrate tact and professionalism when interacting with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
Must take proper care of supplies, equipment, and maintenance work areas.
Demonstrates ability to minimize waste, ensure proper use of supplies, and maintain equipment.
Ability to seek out and integrate new methods and principles into existing maintenance practices, in conjunction with facility leadership.
Must be able to follow both written and oral instructions accurately.
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English and teamwork.
Requires successful completion of background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening.
