Job Description Summary The Chaplain II reports to the Manager, Pastoral Care Services. The Chaplain II, under the guidance of the Manager, Pastoral Care Services, provides pastoral care services to patients, families, and staff with respect to individual religious and spiritual practices and values.

MUSC Pastoral Care Service provides its support to the entire patient population (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).

Work Shift Job Description

The position would cover the 7AM - 7PM shift during peak demand for Pastoral Care Services.

Minimum Requirements

Requires the equivalent of a Master's of Divinity from an accredited theological seminary and ordination as a priest, minister, or rabbi, with current ecclesiastical endorsement or endorsement eligibility.

Four (4) units of clinical pastoral education approved by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, or the National Jewish Welfare board, or equivalent clinical experience; one year of pastoral experience.

Must be able to communicate well verbally.

Must possess excellent relational, collegial and interdisciplinary skills.

Additional Job Description NOTE: The following descriptions are applicable to this section: 1) Continuous – 6-8 hours per shift; 2) Frequent – 2-6 hours per shift; 3) Infrequent – 0-2 hours per shift.
