Facilities Management at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides essential services including operations, maintenance, housekeeping, environmental health and safety, emergency management, clinical engineering, construction, event planning, parking and shuttle operations, space administration, and wayfinding. As a Floor Technician, you will play an essential role in creating a safe, welcoming, and healing environment. By ensuring our facilities are clean and well-maintained, you directly support patient care, research, and the well‑being of everyone who walks through our doors. The Floor Technician position is critical to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention throughout our campus.

The ideal candidate for the Floor Technician role is dependable, detail‑oriented, and punctual, with at least six months of floor technician experience. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills, a willingness to learn infection prevention practices, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Minimum $19.23 - Midpoint $22.12 - Maximum $25.00 per hour

The typical work schedule includes multiple shifts:

Monday‑Friday & Weekends, 9:00pm-5:30am

Monday‑Friday & Weekends, 3:00pm-11:30pm

Monday‑Friday & Weekends, 10:30pm-7:00am

Responsibilities

Perform daily cleaning and housekeeping tasks in assigned areas

Inspect floors and spaces to identify needs and ensure quality standards

Safely handle and use cleaning chemicals and equipment

Record and report cleaning activities to supervisors

Respond promptly to service or supply requests

Execute full range of floor care: scrubbing, stripping, waxing, buffing, burnishing

Maintain cleaning equipment and supply rooms in an orderly manner

Follow safety protocols, chemical handling standards, and infection‑prevention practices

Perform other duties as assigned

Comply with all institutional policies and standards

Requirements Education: None

Work Experience: Six months floor technician experience

Other Requirements:

In this role, you are considered ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL.

Please note: You may be required to transport Covid‑19 suspected and/or positive trash. You will be provided with appropriate Protective Equipment (PPE). The required PPE will involve a Fit Test. Proper fitting may necessitate trimming or shaving facial hair because beard growth or facial hair prevents the necessary seal between the respirator and the face.
