Overview

Kean University invites applications for Adjunct Faculty positions across several disciplines within the College of Health Professions and Human Services. Adjunct appointments are non-tenure track, pay is consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and availability of office hours is required. The university encourages candidates who possess a master’s degree in a related field, teaching experience, and expertise in the highlighted subject areas. Adjunct Faculty Teaching Areas

Public Health

– Teach courses in epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, or holistic health at the Union or Ocean campus. Recreation Administration/Sport and Event Management or Recreational Therapy

– Provide instruction in recreational administration or recreational therapy at the Union or Ocean campus. Exercise Science

– Deliver exercise science courses such as Introduction to Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Motor Learning, Prescriptive Exercise, or Strength Fitness. Prefer certifications such as EP-C, ACSM, or Personal Trainer certifications. Yoga and Mindfulness

– Lead undergraduate courses in Yoga, Meditation, and Mindfulness. Prefer Yoga Alliance-recognized certifications (RYT-200, RYT-500) and experience in higher education. Emphasize trauma-informed teaching and contemplative practice integration. Qualifications and Expectations

All adjunct positions require a master’s degree in a related field. Candidates with an ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate are encouraged to apply. Advanced level courses in the Public Health program require a doctoral degree in a health‑related field. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is mandatory. Adjunct faculty teaching one to four credit hours must provide at least one hour of availability per week per credit. Teachers of fewer than three credits must supply at least thirty minutes of availability per week. Office hours may be scheduled in person or virtually. Adjuncts receive a state‑administered retirement plan when eligible and may enroll in the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage. Official transcripts are required prior to appointment. Compensation and Benefits

Pay is $1,975 per credit effective September 2024, $2,100 per credit effective September 2025, $2,225 per credit effective September 2026, and an additional $75 per credit beginning in the 13th semester taught. Adjuncts are enrolled in a state‑administered retirement plan and may be eligible for Part‑Time State Health Benefits. Application Process
