Front Desk Attendant - Ice Arena
Responsible for those tasks necessary to run daily office operations. The front desk is the information center for the Ice Arena, and attendants are required to provide information for patrons and employees. Front Desk attendants will answer phones, take money (for admissions to open skate, rat hockey and other special events), and accept and complete registration for all Park District programs.
INCENTIVES Part time employees receive 25% off general programs with the exception of PDNA, contracted, trips and private lessons. In order to encourage a healthy lifestyle for our staff members, the Park District provides all staff with the opportunity to use our fitness facilities at the Community Pavilion and the Racquet, Fitness and Gymnastics Center free of charge.
ABOUT US The Oak Lawn Park District, incorporated in 1944, has a long and proud history of serving the recreational needs of our 56,000 residents with a myriad of recreational programs and services. We operate under the state tax cap as a municipal corporation, meaning we are our own taxing body. Overseen by a Board of five elected officials, the District manages a combination of 34 parks and facilities which cover over 280 acres. In addition, we manage a Special Recreation Cooperative that offers recreational programs and services to individuals with disabilities in 9 municipalities.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Ice & Aquatics Manager
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Provides excellent customer service at all times
Opens, closes, or works middle shifts in the office
Answers all calls, either relating to general information or calls going to management
Provides information and answers questions for walk‑in patrons
Ability to use RecTrac registration and POS software, along with familiarity with Word and Excel
Is responsible for all cash control in the front office during their shift
Has general knowledge of all Park District facilities, programs, and other information or where to find that information
Registration responsibilities include assisting patrons with registration forms, entering transactions in the RecTrac system, and completing all paperwork in regards to cash control and deposits
Must have CPR/1st Aid/AED certification or be willing to obtain certification within 3 months
Follows all Oak Lawn Park District safety procedures
Assist in cleaning of office and other areas as needed
Attend all mandatory park district trainings
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Help with other Ice Arena and Park District special events such as Ice Shows and holiday events.
To react well during emergency situations
Assist with tasks that are not necessarily in the job description
PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS
To work longer shifts in conjunction with ice shows, hockey tournaments, competitions and special events.
To do a considerable amount of typing
To work longer shifts when designated, if the need arises
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
To work in stressful situations, such as busy open skates and the first days of registration
To work alone on any shift as the occasion arises
To work a varied schedule as required
To work with staff and patrons in a relaxed and friendly manner
To use good judgment in the absence of supervision
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
Worker may be exposed to cold in the rink area
Worker may be exposed to quick changes in temperature from lobby to rink
COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS
Employee must have the ability to follow and give directions
Employee must use good judgment to assess order and importance of tasks
Employee must possess time management and organization skills to effectively perform his/her job
Employee must have ability to make judgments with respect to confidentiality of information and problem solving
Employee must use good safety awareness and judgment in all aspects of this position
