How You’ll Make an Impact As a Plant Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, driving our manufacturing of Acrylic Emulsions and Formulated Solutions units Lubrizol Plant located in Gastonia, NC. The leader is responsible for setting the vision for the site that allows for the effective planning and execution of all activities needed to support safe delivery of products and services to our customers, while ensuring overall sound operation of the facility.

Establish and promote a plant culture that is responsive to the manufacturing environment and business needs through teamwork and personal accountability that includes a true belief that safety is a core value.

Manage the central functions including manufacturing, HSE&S, quality control, plant logistics, and maintenance/engineering including expense and capital budgets.

Responsible for development and direct management of the site leadership team by providing coaching, guidance, insight, and support to build and ensure successful leadership at the plant.

Work with Process Technology, Supply Chain, Procurement teams and Operations Leadership team to incorporate new products and processes into the facility, including effective process improvement, while ensuring a cost‑effective operating methodology and successful implementation.

Ensure establishment of Lubrizol systems and procedures that support HSE&S, operations, HR and finance programs and goals.

Oversee talent management and employee development and promote constructive employee relations.

Ability to effectively lead and support site leadership team through change to provide positive leadership for the successful day‑to‑day operations of the site.

Be active and visible within the organization to improve and bridge the gap between the business strategy and the employees.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications that Enables Your Success

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or school preferred.

7+ years of manufacturing experience that includes site management experience.

Proven ability to effectively lead with minimal supervision, demonstrating an entrepreneurial attitude.

Proficient in leading the plant, providing direction, support, and development for manufacturing teams in the plant.

Knowledge of batch and continuous chemical processing experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated processes.

Can effectively work in a matrix organization.

Strong communication (written, verbal, and listening) and networking skills.

Strong PC skills, including MS Office software; strong understanding of SAP.

Strong organizational skills.

Self‑motivated, proactive with the ability to multi‑task and work in a fast‑paced, “high energy,” team‑oriented environment.

Must demonstrate enthusiasm, a sense of urgency, commitment and follow‑through while maintaining confidentiality and meeting deadlines.

Ability to pay attention to accuracy and detail is critical.

Follow‑up skills and the ability of quick thinking in a dynamic environment are crucial to success.

Preferred Qualifications that Drive you Forward

Previous Supply Chain experience is desired, but not required.
