Description The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non‑criminal behavior. The Postal Technician II is a vital part of this mission through performing and overseeing the complex duties in the mailroom.
Responsibilities
Searching and processing incoming and outgoing mail for staff and inmates
Assists staff and inmates with proper mailing and shipping procedures
Maintains logs
Maintains and operates postal equipment
Maintains and orders mailroom supplies
Training, supervising, and evaluating mailroom subordinates
The ideal candidate for this position will have strong observation skills, strong communication skills, be self‑motivated, be well organized.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
High school graduate.
Experience, Training, or Skills:
Must have two years of postal experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Additional education will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
NONE
Special Requirements (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions Incumbents working in this job title are required to travel daily to pick up and deliver mail.
