Salary: $20.00 – $26.00 per hour.
Job Type: Full-time
We are recruiting Underground Utility Locators to join our team in a drug‑free environment. Our locators are responsible, self‑motivated individuals who enjoy working outdoors. We will train the right person who is committed to safety, comfortable working on their own, pays close attention to detail, and takes pride in completing a job well done.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Drive a company vehicle directly from home to job sites in response to routine ticket requests, emergencies, and relocations.
Utilize provided mapping tools and location information, along with locating equipment, to locate underground utilities (electric, gas, telephone, and other communication lines).
Indicate utility locations through paint, flags, and other markers, and communicate relevant information to excavation personnel or authorities.
Respond to after‑hours emergency call‑outs in accordance with the established rotation schedule.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude
Computer skills
Valid driver’s license in the state of employment
Ability to work overtime when necessary
Participation in Vannguard’s drug‑free workplace program and completion of pre‑employment drug screening
Self‑management and timely communication with supervisors and clients
Physical Demands
Drive 50 to 300+ miles daily as required by the assigned geographic area.
Get in and out of a vehicle 50+ times a day.
Stand and walk lengthy distances (1+ mile) over uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
Sit for long periods while driving.
Lift and/or move 50 to 150 pounds.
Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
License
Driver’s license (required)

Experience
Computer skills: 1 year (preferred)
Utility locating: 1 year (preferred)
