Project Manager 2 – Plant Asset Data

Location:
Birmingham, AL Contract- 2 Years
Travel:
Up to 50% (day and overnight travel)
Position Summary We are seeking a Project Manager 2 – Plant Asset Data
to lead projects focused on improving the accuracy, integrity, and governance of
Generation asset data
across the fleet.
This role sits within the
Operations Data Analytics
organization and is responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams to implement a comprehensive
Data Governance and Remediation strategy . The Project Manager will serve as the central point of coordination among engineering, operations, supply chain, asset management, and technology teams to ensure projects are delivered
on time, within scope, and with high quality .
Key Responsibilities Project Coordination & Implementation
Lead planning, coordination, and execution of asset data–related projects
Develop and maintain
project plans, schedules, milestones, and resource allocations
Facilitate project meetings, track action items, and ensure stakeholder alignment
Monitor progress, manage risks, and implement corrective actions as needed
Coordinate transition from existing asset data models to
standardized data models
Support
end-user training, change management, and adoption efforts
Project Objectives
Improve
accuracy, completeness, and quality
of generation asset data
Increase
data usability and accessibility
across business units
Establish a strong foundation for
data governance and controls
Develop and execute a comprehensive
Data Strategy
including governance, controls, and remediation
Key Deliverables
Assess existing asset data models and supporting systems across Generation
Gather and document business requirements for a unified asset data model
Develop and implement a
standardized asset data model
aligned with industry best practices
Document input from stakeholders (engineering, supply chain, asset management, operations, maintenance, IT)
Establish
data governance policies, procedures, and ownership roles
Execute transition and implementation plans
Deliver training, communications, and support to ensure successful adoption
Required Qualifications Experience
Minimum
5 years
of experience in
power plant, power delivery, or heavy industrial environments
Minimum
3 years
of experience in
project management or a similar role
Education
Bachelor’s degree in
Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management , or related field (preferred)
Certifications
PMP certification
preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proven ability to manage
complex, cross-functional projects
Strong understanding of
power plant or utility operations
Excellent
verbal and written communication
skills
Strong documentation, organization, and attention to detail
Analytical and solution-oriented problem-solving mindset
Advanced proficiency with
Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, Project , and related tools
Strong customer and stakeholder focus
