Overview Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first. The Referral Coordinator schedules and pre‑registers patients for exams and procedures with specialists and providers outside of the primary care physician’s office. The Coordinator performs varied activities and moderately complex administrative, operational and customer support assignments, typically on semi‑routine tasks.

Responsibilities

Prepare and process all managed care referral paperwork.

Gather pertinent information from physicians, nurse practitioners and nursing staff to complete referrals.

Contact various offices/facilities to obtain necessary appointments for completing referrals.

Maintain referral records and files documentation.

Respond to patient inquiries regarding health plan referrals.

Maintain strict confidentiality; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.

Required Qualifications

1–3 years of hands‑on healthcare experience in a clinical setting, preferably within the Medicare population.

Referral experience is mandatory.

Proficient with medical terminology.

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Experience with Electronic Medical Records.

Excellent professional communication abilities at all levels within the organization and with patients.

Bi‑lingual English & Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare or Business Administration.

Knowledge of ICD‑10 and CPT coding.

Medical Assistant or other professional state certifications related to healthcare.

Working Hours & Remote Work Monday to Friday, 8 AM–5 PM (remote work from home – Orlando, FL).

Remote Work Requirements

Must have a high‑speed DSL or cable modem for a home office (minimum 25 Mbps download × 10 Mbps upload). Satellite and wireless internet services are not allowed.

Dedicated, interruption‑free workspace to protect member PHI/HIPAA information.

Travel Occasional travel to Humana’s offices for training or meetings may be required.

Compensation $40,000 – $52,300 per year (based on geographic location and experience).

Language Proficiency Testing Bi‑lingual English/Spanish. Must be able to speak, read and write in both languages without assistance. A language proficiency assessment may be required.
