Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Specialist or Intern to support documentation quality within our Substance Use Disorder (SUD) outpatient program. This role plays a critical part in ensuring clinical and coaching documentation meets internal standards, regulatory requirements, and billing accuracy. This position is ideal for someone interested in behavioral health, healthcare compliance, medical documentation, or quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Review peer recovery coach documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

Ensure all DAP Notes include clearly documented and appropriate Data, Assessment, and Plan sections.

Verify that documentation aligns with required program standards, clinical expectations, and regulatory guidance.

Review coding entries to ensure accuracy and consistency with services provided.

Identify documentation errors, omissions, or inconsistencies and flag them for correction.

Provide clear, constructive feedback to coaches and staff to support continuous improvement.

Track common documentation issues and trends and report findings to leadership.

Support quality improvement initiatives related to documentation and compliance.

Qualifications

Strong attention to detail and the ability to critically review written documentation.

Interest in healthcare, behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, or compliance.

Ability to follow structured guidelines and apply them consistently.

Strong written communication skills.

Basic familiarity with clinical documentation, medical terminology, or behavioral health services is helpful but not required.

For interns: current enrollment in or recent completion of coursework in healthcare administration, public health, psychology, social work, or a related field is a plus.

Position Details

This role may be offered as a paid or unpaid internship depending on qualifications and program structure.

Flexible, remote-friendly role with training provided.

Availability is required in the evenings Monday through Thursday and on Sundays, for approximately 3–4 hours per day.
