Requirements:

Ability to work with children

The minimum requirement is 2 perpetual in‑water Swim Instructor shifts

Must maintain 90% attendance for all scheduled shifts

Arrive on time for all shifts and actively participate in pre‑shift and post‑shift meetings

Successfully pass background examinations (provided as part of the training process):

Pass the final knowledge test for Swim Instructors with a score of at least 80%

Pass all curriculum checklists with a score of 75%+

Achieve 100% completion of Golden Teacher videos

Complete any post‑training follow‑up examinations

Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills

Summary : Instructs students on water safety and swim instruction utilizing the Goldfish Swim School curriculum. Provides direction, training and mentoring to new GSS swim instructors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.

Provides direction, training and mentoring to new GSS swim instructors. May be called upon to help provide improvements to the GSS curriculum to improve its delivery and effectiveness. Completes new teacher training documentation as necessary.

Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents.

Uses problem solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter.

Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues.

Reports issues to management as appropriate.

Maintains and ensures proper storage of all pool equipment. Places and removes lane lines.

Reports accidents and incidents to management. Completes required documentation and paperwork.

Assists in execution of the EAP when needed.

Occasionally performs light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, etc.

Occasionally required to attend in‑service training outside of regular working hours.

Safety Standards Goldfish Swim School follows all CDC and WHO safety standards along with any local guidelines. Additional safety precautions and procedures we follow:

Every shift has an on‑staff cleaner to sanitize high touch areas in our lobby and pool areas.

Our pools are disinfected with chlorine to provide the safest swimming environment.

The CDC states that proper operation, maintenance and disinfection of the water with chlorine should remove or inactivate the virus.

Our state‑of‑the‑art ventilation system allows fresh air to continuously circulate into our building, further minimizing the spread of any airborne virus.

Industry experts note that indoor pools are far superior at minimizing virus transmission than most indoor spaces.

Education & Experience High school diploma or GED is preferred. Two or more years as a swim instructor required. Experience as a youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or teacher preferred. College degree preferred.

Certificates and Licenses Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

Work Environment While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
