Coastal Logistics Group
Yard Jockey Truck Driver is responsible for moving and positioning trailers between buildings and dock doors. Safely operates yard tractor to spot, stage, and organize trailers within facility grounds. Follows yard safety procedures, performs basic equipment checks, and communicates with warehouse staff to support efficient loading and unloading operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate yard jockey truck to move containers, dry vans, flat racks, open tops, and low boys to and from dock doors, yard parking spots and staging areas.
Ensure containers and dry vans are properly aligned to dock doors and ensure tire chocks and jack stands are properly used.
Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the jockey truck and report any mechanical issues.
Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, dispatch, and other drivers.
Follow all company safety protocols and DOT regulations.
Assist with container and dry van checks, and yard audits as needed.
Report any incidents, delays, or equipment malfunctions immediately.
Maintain cleanliness of vehicle and work area.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred, not required for yard-only).
Experience operating jockey trucks or yard hostlers preferred.
Familiarity with various trailer types.
Strong time management and communication skills.
Ability to work safely in outdoor conditions.
Ability to sit for long periods.
Climb in/out of trucks frequently.
Lift up to 50 lbs.
Work in all weather conditions.
Conditions: The role involves working in a warehouse setting with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels, requiring physical stamina.
Hours: Must be available to work flexible hours, including potential overtime and weekends.
Work Schedule
Days: Monday through Friday
Hours: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
