R1769Location:Samaritan Keep HomeDepartment:02.6019 SKH FLOAT NURSING PERSOPay Range:$25.33 - $36.77Care for our community, and your career.The LPN works under the direction of the registered nurse and utilizes the nursing process in the planning, implementing, and evaluating of nursing care to the patient. This individual collaborates with other members of the team in providing health information, maintenance and restoration. The LPN may collect data on the health status of the patient in conjunction with other members of the health care team, for the identification of health goals. The LPN may communicate with the patient the status of goal achievement as a basis for reordering of priorities and new goal setting for contribution to the modification of the nursing care plan. He/She ensures that compassionate, engaged care meets or exceeds quality standards. Care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the NYS licensure and SHS standard of care. The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect nursing care of patients of all ages in an assigned area during a given period of time, which the LPN will be assigned under an RN’s direction. The LPN is responsible for the direction and supervision of aides as assigned. The LPN recognizes the legal responsibilities as specified by law and abides within those responsibilities. The LPN may participate in weekend, holiday, on call, and evening/night rotations.Job RequirementsMinimum Education Requirement:Graduate from a School of Nursing.
Knowledge of new trends and techniques in Nursing preferred.
Minimum Experience Requirement:Previous hospital LPN experience is preferred. Possesses a thorough knowledge of nursing principles. Demonstrates ability to provide quality resident care. Must possess and demonstrate knowledge of the appropriate means to provide care to the population being hired to care for, along with knowledge of the age specific needs and growth and development requirements. Possesses ability to assess resident’s needs, e.g. clinical, teaching, mental and spiritual. Must have good hearing and vision abilities. Must recognize safety issues to self and others and be able to assess and implement use of lifts or other personnel to lift and move residents of all sizes and weights in a safe manner throughout the entire shift. Must be free of any ambulatory impairment that would restrict ability to navigate stairways and corridors at speedy rate for emergencies. Must be able to function well in stressful situations and have good, creative, problem-solving skills. Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate. Demonstrated commitment to quality, timely, and cost-effective resident care. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required. Detail attentiveness required. Individual must be self motivated and willing to self-direct. Ability to simultaneously handle multiple assignments and projects with speed and accuracy. Able to work efficiently and effectively under time constraints.Minimum License Requirement:Current NYS LPN licensed.
GPN’s must obtain NYS license within 3 months of hire.
