Qualifications

Valid Ohio Special Education Licensure in Hearing‑Impaired K‑12 within 2 years of the assignment start date (Hearing‑Impaired (PK‑12) added to your Ohio Intervention Specialist License).

Evidence of proficient Case‑Accurate Signed English (CASE) skills. A CASE proficiency assessment will be conducted as part of the pre‑interview or interview process.

Position Description

Helps students learn subject matter and/or skills contributing to their development as mature, capable, and responsible adults.

Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of students, and provides written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.

Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.

Employs instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.

Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required.

Considers counseling with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.

Assists the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.

Develops reasonable classroom‑behavior rules and procedures.

Maintains classroom order fairly and justly.

Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers, evaluating their job performance cooperatively with department heads.

Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.

Accepts shared responsibility for co‑curricular activities as assigned and seeks to improve professional competence.

Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

Assists in IEP development, including instructional objectives and unique services for students.

Makes modifications and accommodations in the classroom environment for students with disabilities in regular or special‑education classrooms.

Monitors students’ progress in accordance with the IEP.

Reports to and carries out any other responsibilities assigned by the building principal.
