NEIWPCC and the Lake Champlain Basin Program (LCBP) are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Summer Education & Outreach Steward to support public engagement around Lake Champlain. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in environmental education, outreach, and communications while working with a dynamic team dedicated to protecting the Lake Champlain watershed.

Position Overview

Staffing community events across Vermont, New York, and possibly Québec.

Transporting, setting up, and managing outreach exhibits and activities.

Providing staff coverage at the Colleen Hickey Lake Champlain Resource Room at the ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain.

Engaging learners of all ages in watershed education.

Assisting with meetings, preparing outreach materials, and contributing to social media content.

Schedule, Location & Pay

Approximately 40 hours per week, mid‑May through September 2026 (some evenings & weekends required), with the potential for extension.

Work will be based in Grand Isle and Burlington, Vermont, with potential travel to New York and Québec. This position is not eligible for telework.

The anticipated hourly payrate for this position is $19.00.

Qualifications

Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging with the public.

Attention to detail, dependability, and enthusiasm for watershed issues.

Coursework or experience related to natural resources, education, communications, or environmental sciences preferred.

Valid driver’s license and access to personal transportation are required.

Photography or media skills a plus.
