This position serves at the advanced Industrial Hygienist level, serving as the recognized resource for Regional Lead Consultants with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Lead Inspection Unit. At the advanced level, this is responsible for assignments with greater complexity than those at the experienced or entry level. This individual shall provide lead-based paint hazard control activities, including inspections, risk assessments, elevated blood lead level environmental investigations, project specifications, abatement and contractor oversight, project facilitation, clearance examinations and reports for eligible families residing in high-risk homes containing lead-based paint. This position shall work closely with a very diverse population of clientele and shall serve as liaison between clientele and local health department staff, nurses, physicians and housing officials. This position shall also focus on providing education and outreach to diverse populations and groups on childhood lead poisoning, the Lead Safe Home Program and healthy homes. This position also has added responsibility beyond the experienced level for providing input and evaluation of the current Lead in Water Sampling Protocol, as well as the Lead Inspection, Risk Assessment and EBL Environmental Investigation report templates. This position also services as technical and subject matter expert in conducting lead investigations. In addition, this position serves as the recognized resource in providing regional lead services in Flint, Michigan as it pertains to Lead-based Paint Hazard testing, control and water sampling.

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in the physical sciences, biological sciences, public health, occupational safety or health, or engineering with a minimum of 20 semester (30 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: biology, biostatistics, chemistry, critical incident analysis, engineering, environmental health, epidemiology, ergonomics, health physics, industrial hygiene, physics, physiology, public health, sampling and laboratory analysis, hazardous materials, hazardous materials management, or toxicology?
Experience
Three years of professional experience in the prevention of occupational diseases and the protection and improvement of the industrial health environment equivalent to an Industrial Hygienist, including one year equivalent to an Industrial Hygienist P11.
Position Location/Remote Office:
The physical location of this position is 333 South Grand Ave, Lansing. Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered. Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
