Part Time Transit Dispatcher
City of Bullhead City, Bullhead City, Arizona, United States, 86442
Responsible for receiving and dispatching radio calls, answering multi‑line phones, routing transit vehicles, preparing daily deposits, monitoring vehicle status, and performing routine clerical duties. The position may require transporting passengers on a demand responsive public transportation system. It requires non‑standard or rotating shift work, including weekends and may be subject to call back. This is a part‑time position limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week.
NOTE: This is a safety‑sensitive position subject to the required testing policy per the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). The incumbent must fully comply with all operational safety rules and regulations established by Bullhead Area Transit.
Education & Experience High School Diploma or General Education Development (G.E.D.) and one year of clerical experience providing services to the general public; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
Licensing & Training
Valid Driver's License
*Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
Essential Functions
Perform a variety of office, administrative, and general support assignments; gather, assemble, organize, and tabulate data and information.
Answer multi‑line phones and provide callers with information regarding directions and City’s transit services.
Schedule passenger trips for the Dial‑A‑Ride service and for the Senior Center Transportation service.
Receive and dispatch radio calls to drivers on route.
Use spreadsheets and other special computer software.
Perform data entry to maintain records and generate reports.
Complete reports related to vehicle operations and maintenance.
Collect and record transit fares; reconcile the drivers’ paperwork and prepare deposits.
Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
Coordinate continuation of service between drivers, the Transit Operations Supervisor, and contracted mechanic staff.
Comply with and promote safe practices in agreement with the safety rules and procedures set forth.
Perform other duties as assigned.
