About The Role The CDL Driver II will perform duties associated with transporting hazardous and non‑hazardous waste between Reworld facilities and client sites. Drivers will operate manual transmission equipment only, specifically walking floor trailers and tankers. Routes primarily run Milwaukee–Indianapolis, and Lacrosse, WI, with drivers traveling through Chicago on a routine basis.
Primary Responsibilities
Drive commercial vehicles to safely transport hazardous and non‑hazardous materials over regional and long‑haul routes in compliance with DOT regulations while meeting scheduled appointments.
Operate specialized equipment (walking floor trailers and tankers) to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials.
Perform thorough pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
Additional Responsibilities
Complete administrative tasks and paperwork related to transportation of hazardous/non‑hazardous materials and vehicle/equipment maintenance (manifests, bills of lading, medical waste tracking, logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspections, incident reports, etc.).
Ensure proper placarding of vehicles per DOT regulations.
Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, customers, and other drivers regarding instructions, delivery status, and potential delays.
Uphold safety standards for fellow employees, clients, and the public while operating company vehicles.
Interpret maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Must be 21 years or older (interstate travel requirement).
CDL Class A required.
Minimum 3 years of commercial Class A driving experience, including tanker endorsement and experience.
Acceptable driving record.
Manual transmission proficiency required.
Regional role with home‑daily schedule in most cases (weather dependent).
Preferred Qualifications
High School Diploma / GED preferred.
Hazmat endorsement.
Physical Demands of the Role
Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb for long periods of time.
Ability to grab, grip, reach, push, pull, lift/carry 50 lbs.
Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
Consistently work in various weather conditions.
Visual activity and hearing required.
