Position Description As an Applebee’s® Assistant Manager you will oversee all day‑to‑day operations, ensuring guests and staff are passionate about their experience. You will be a team leader, problem solver, stress‑tolerant and inspire your team to thrive.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, achieving established unit objectives.
Cultivates a culture aligned with Flynn Applebee's Premier Card and core values.
Responds to and resolves all verbal guest complaints promptly.
Maintains guest contact priority via required table visits established by Flynn Applebee's standards.
Maintains departmental inventory levels.
Ensures product preparation and presentation meet company standards through line checks.
Schedules employees to meet sales demands.
Maintains effective safety and security programs.
Promotes cleanliness, sanitation and restaurant organization.
Performs routine maintenance and reports needed repairs to the General Manager/Area Director.
Recruits and refers potential team members and management candidates.
Facilitates Flynn | Applebee's training procedures for new managers.
Provides effective employment orientation, training sessions, meetings and implements company policy and training systems.
Encourages employee development with One‑on‑One coaching and performance documentation, and participates in written evaluations.
Assesses employee efficiency, provides constructive feedback and collaborates on development.
Monitors employee performance and documents situations requiring disciplinary action.
Ensures compliance with company policies, practices and procedures.
Controls costs in assigned department.
Complies with local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines.
Conducts bi‑weekly/weekly food and liquor inventories at the AD/GM’s request.
Prepares and submits accurate daily paperwork.
Maintains sanitation standards to meet or exceed Health Department and Flynn Applebee's standards.
Serves as a role model for managers and employees.
Develops proficiency in all store‑related technology.
Willing and able to work in all positions and assist as needed, including cooking, expos, seating guests and bartending.
Utilizes the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills.
Education and Experience
At least 2–3 years of restaurant management experience.
Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications are a plus.
Physical Standards
Work various shifts, including weekends.
Stand and move for up to ten (10) hours with well‑paced mobility.
Lift up to 50 pounds (pots, pans, glassware, boxes, etc.).
Read and write to facilitate communication; possess finger and hand dexterity for small tools and equipment.
