Temporary Aviation Maintenance Technician
Elizabeth City State University is seeking a temporary FAA‑Certified Airframe & Powerplant Technician to support the Department of Aviation and Emergency Management. The role will assist with scheduled, unscheduled, preventive aircraft maintenance and special projects, while maintaining FAA paperwork and aircraft logbooks.
Key Responsibilities
Augment and assist in the primary performance of, sign‑off on, or conduct 50‑hour recurrent inspections, 100‑hour inspections, and minor unscheduled maintenance.
Complete necessary FAA paperwork and aircraft logbook entries.
Report parts usage and provide adjustments needed to keep equipment ready.
Assist the Director of Aviation Maintenance and other FAA‑Certified Airframe & Powerplant Technicians during high‑demand maintenance operations.
Participate in scheduled, unscheduled, preventive aircraft maintenance and special projects involving major maintenance and alterations.
Qualifications & Requirements
FAA Certification as an Airframe & Powerplant Technician.
Experience with general aviation small‑piston reciprocating engine aircraft.
Current FAA Medical Certificate.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced, noisy environment while exercising sound judgment.
Knowledge and ability to apply effective instructional techniques in the classroom and in flight.
