Assistant Prosecutor An Assistant Prosecutor position is available at the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office. Must be a graduate of an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate degree and be licensed to practice law in the State of NJ. Strong research and writing skills are required. Courtroom experience is a plus.
Background The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office (CCPO) is the Chief Law Enforcement agency in Cumberland County, New Jersey. Incoming Assistant Prosecutors are assigned to one of several litigation units within the Office: Grand Jury Unit, Juvenile Unit, Special Litigation Unit, Trial Unit, or Special Victims Unit.
Responsibilities
Appear in the Superior Court to handle a variety of proceedings, including pre‑indictment and post‑indictment motions, juvenile motions and trials, detention hearings, adult criminal trials, sentencing, direct appeals, applications for post‑conviction relief, firearm revocation proceedings, extreme risk protective order applications, gun permit appeals, municipal court appeals, and domestic violence contempt proceedings.
Handle a variety of legal research and writing assignments internally and through court filings.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate degree.
Licensed to practice law in the State of NJ.
Strong research and writing skills.
Courtroom experience is a plus.
License Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey.
