The position of Shipping Lead drives hands on leadership to warehouse operators 1-3, assures the safe completion of daily tasks, maintains operational goals and acts as a bridge between Operators and Supervisors. As a Shipping Lead, you will coordinate the activities of workers responsible for picking product and preparing it for same day shipping direct to customers as well as batch orders sent to warehouses. Organization and ability to communicate clearly and accurately are critical to success in this role. Your day will be spent managing inbound core, verifying truckload transfers and overseeing the team, maintaining safety and accuracy, and fulfilling requests to ensure daily demands are met and processes run smoothly within the department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct all activities in a safe manner; lead by example and promote a positive safety culture

Accurately process and move raw materials (cores) and finished goods on the factory floor.

Lead the team in loading/unloading transfer trailers on a daily basis to support ETE’s daily production goals

Effectively utilize our ERP system to correctly process core transfers (including put‑away, pod washing, etc.)

Sustain the ability of coaching, counseling and supporting others in a professional manner

Take on and assign responsibilities to teammates, develop and execute plans for improvement, including cross‑training opportunities

Be prepared for scheduled and impromptu meetings, be able to work as a team

Assist others within the department, train new personnel and work overtime when needed

Follow directions from managers, be proactive and lead the department to success

Make sure employees are productive and at their workstations on time

Assist with cross training and job shadowing or current employees and new hires

Oversee workflows, support workflow Improvements and efficiency initiatives.

A resource for troubleshooting equipment and process issues

Quality checks of received items

OTJ and coaching for new staff

Proficient in communication and tasks cross functionally

Reporting/tracking KPI’s

Train the Trainer certification

Employee reporting as necessary, no disciplinary responsibilities but assists with driving accountability

Qualifications

Ability to properly take and read various gages and dimensions, able to follow oral and written instructions

Computer efficiency, strong communication and good math skills, able to work with Microsoft Office

Ability to drive a forklift and become certified

Previous warehouse and mechanical background, past machine shop and automotive parts experience preferred

Must be 18 years old, high school diploma preferred, detail oriented, ability to bend, twist, pull & push

Willingness and understanding you will get dirty at times, and may have to work with chemicals

Skill of working with your hands, multiple types of tools, fixtures, gages and other instruments

Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand & work on your feet for 8+ hours a day and under pressure at times

Have a Can-Do Attitude, with good time management, communication and decision-making skills

Self-starting and motivation; believe in teamwork and uphold the ability to always help others

Adhere to all safety rules, give it your all every day, must have regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
