Handyman / Facilities Maintenance Technician – Scramble Indoor Play & Scramble Parkour
As a Facilities Maintenance Technician at Scramble, you play a key role in ensuring that our indoor play centers remain safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for children and families. Ideal candidates are reliable, detail‑oriented, and hands‑on problem solvers who enjoy fixing, improving, and maintaining a wide variety of spaces and equipment across our facilities. This role supports Scramble’s mission of creating clean, safe, and fun environments where families can enjoy memorable experiences together.
This position requires an individual who works efficiently with limited supervision, communicates clearly, and takes pride in maintaining high standards across all Scramble locations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform general handyman and maintenance tasks including
minor repairs, painting, patching, replacing fixtures, tightening hardware, and basic carpentry .
Conduct
garden and landscaping upkeep , such as trimming, clearing debris, and maintaining outdoor walkways or entry areas.
Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on
appliances, toilets, sinks, and small plumbing or mechanical issues .
Support ongoing maintenance and
upkeep of play structures, soft play elements, parkour equipment, and safety features , reporting any concerns promptly.
Inspect all Scramble facilities routinely to ensure they remain in excellent condition and meet health and safety standards.
Clean, tidy, and maintain facility equipment rooms, utility spaces, and back‑of‑house areas.
Assist with special projects including
installations, light construction, repainting, furniture building, and minor renovations .
Coordinate with managers regarding repair needs, timelines, and supplies.
Track and restock essential materials, tools, and maintenance supplies.
Support facility cleanliness standards, including occasional sweeping, mopping, waste removal, and large‑scale cleaning tasks as needed.
Complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality and attention to detail.
Interact with staff and occasional guests in a polite, positive, and professional manner.
Participate in relevant trainings, safety meetings, and walkthroughs.
Qualifications
Experience performing handyman, maintenance, repair, or facilities support work.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of repair issues independently.
Strong time‑management skills and the ability to work efficiently without constant oversight.
Clear communication skills; ability to document work completed and needed repairs.
Proactive, dependable, and able to identify issues before they become problems.
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
Ability to work a consistent schedule; some weekend or off‑hour availability may occasionally be required for repairs or emergencies.
Education & Experience
Previous handyman, maintenance, janitorial, construction, or facilities experience (required).
Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Familiarity with basic plumbing, painting, patching, carpentry, and mechanical troubleshooting.
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Physical Demands
Ability to walk, bend, kneel, lift, climb, or work in tight spaces as needed.
Ability to lift and carry at least
50 pounds .
Work Environment
Fast‑paced, active environment with varied daily tasks.
May work around children, families, and high‑energy play areas.
May require occasional weekend or holiday availability depending on maintenance needs.
