Key Responsibilities Restroom & Shower Care
Clean and sanitize restrooms and shower areas, including toilets, urinals, partitions, sinks, mirrors, counters, and vents. Refill dispensers, scrub and mop floors, clean drains, and maintain overall hygiene standards.
General Cleaning
Vacuum carpeted areas, dust and clean furniture, ledges, window sills, boards, fountains, and fixtures. Sweep, mop, and maintain hard‑surface floors. Clean entryways, exits, interior glass, stainless steel, brass, and woodwork. Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal and ice melt application around entries and exits.
Floor Care
Perform floor maintenance, including scrubbing, buffing, burnishing, stripping, and refinishing. Remove stains from carpets and upholstery as needed.
Waste Removal
Collect, separate, and dispose of trash and recyclable materials. Break down boxes, maintain waste collection areas, and operate dumpsters and compactors.
Additional Responsibilities
Lock/unlock designated doors and assist with event set‑ups.
Clean kitchen appliances as needed.
Respond to emergency or special cleaning requests.
Perform occasional ladder work or bed‑making.
Address unexpected requests from building managers or hall staff.
Remove litter from exterior entrances and exits.
Move furniture to facilitate cleaning.
Stock supplies and report maintenance needs.
Operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
Participate in training and staff meetings.
Communicate professionally via radio, in person, and in writing.
Alert security to suspicious behavior.
Support other assigned tasks that contribute to the overall appearance and functionality of University facilities.
Skill Qualifications
Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Must be able to work effectively with infrequent direct supervision.
Must be able to follow instructions and procedures.
Basic computer skills are preferred.
Must be able to work safely and report hazards and concerns.
