Elementary Classroom Teacher (K‑5)
– Gainesville City Schools.

Position Purpose Under the general supervision of the School Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district‑approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Essential Functions
Develop and administer school elementary curriculum consistent with district goals.
Promote a classroom environment that safely supports individualized and small‑group instruction and student learning.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate them into learning experiences, maximizing instructional time.
Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instruction to fit individual needs, including students with special needs; conduct individual and small‑group instruction as needed.
Instruct students in responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified by state laws, and administrative regulations and procedures of the school system.
Continue to acquire professional knowledge and stay current by attending seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or conducting research.
Organize and maintain a system for accurate record‑keeping, grading and reporting of all student activities, achievements and attendance per district procedures and applicable law.
Encourage parental involvement in student education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
Ensure student conduct conforms with school standards and district policies, establishing and maintaining behavior standards for a functional learning atmosphere.
Coordinate with other elementary staff, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
Select, requisition, and maintain inventory records for appropriate books, instructional aids, supplies and equipment.
Supervise students in activities outside the classroom during the school day, including transportation‑related activities.
Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
Additional Duties Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and formulation of action plans.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
Organizational and coordination skills.
Effective communication with students and parents.
Self‑evaluation skills for professional growth.
Ability to build cooperative working relationships with others.
Physical and Mental Demands Works in standard office and school building environments.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
Georgia Certification as an Elementary Teacher; Georgia Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels a plus.
