We’re seeking a Fire Inspector to join our growing team at Urban37, Inc. In this full-time role, you’ll perform fire inspections, conduct plan reviews for fire-related permits, and work directly with contractors, applicants, and City staff to promote life-safety and code compliance in every project.
Success in this position means delivering thorough, timely, and solution-focused service and representing Urban37 with professionalism, integrity, and care.
What You’ll Do
Conduct fire and life-safety inspections for a wide range of occupancies. Perform simple plan reviews for fire-related permits, including fire sprinkler systems, fire alarms, etc. Prepare detailed inspection and plan review reports, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with all applicable fire codes, standards, and departmental procedures. Communicate effectively with contractors, design professionals, business owners, and applicants to identify deficiencies and guide corrective actions. Coordinate closely with Building, Planning, and other City departments to support efficient project review and inspection processes. Perform routine fire and life-safety inspections for new businesses and tenant improvement projects, while also supporting more advanced inspection and enforcement activities consistent with a Fire Inspector II role. Qualifications
Experience performing fire inspections or fire-prevention work in municipal or consulting environments (required). Strong knowledge of the California Fire Code, NFPA standards, and related regulations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ICC Fire Inspector I Certification (preferred). Ability to interpret and apply codes with accuracy, fairness, and consistency. Comfortable using inspection or permitting software (e.g., TRAKiT, Accela, EnerGov) or willing to learn.
