Senior Payroll Specialist – Government Contracting (Temp-to-Hire)

We are hiring a
Senior Payroll Specialist
with
deep Government Contracting (GovCon) payroll experience
to support a high-volume, client-facing outsourced accounting environment. This is a
temp-to-hire role
and requires
hands‑on ownership of payroll
from start to finish.
This position is best suited for a
senior or supervisor-level payroll professional
with strong Costpoint expertise and the confidence to work directly with government contractor clients.
Compensation
Contract:
Up to
$60/hour
Conversion Salary:
$100,000 – $120,000
Location & Schedule
Chantilly, VA
Fully on-site , Monday–Friday
Key Responsibilities
Process
bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and weekly payrolls
Heavy use of
Deltek Costpoint Payroll
Import and audit timekeeping data for exempt and non-exempt employees
Payroll accounting,
journal entries , and
general ledger reconciliations
Payroll tax compliance (monthly, quarterly, annual filings)
Garnishments, liens, overtime, off-cycle payments, and leave accruals
Process and reconcile
401(k) contributions and loans
Support internal and external
payroll audits
Build payroll reports and trackers using
Excel
Set up new state tax accounts and manage multi-state payroll compliance
Act as a
client-facing payroll subject matter expert , resolving payroll inquiries
Required Qualifications
5+ years of CURRENT Government Contracting payroll experience
5+ years of Deltek Costpoint payroll experience
(required)
Experience with
ADP or Paylocity
Strong payroll accounting and reconciliation skills
Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance rules
Excellent communication skills; client interaction is a core function
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
U.S. Citizenship required
