Position Overview A well-established commercial door, frame, and hardware organization is seeking a
Senior Sales & Estimating Representative
to support continued growth in the Chicagoland market. This is a strategic, client-facing role that blends relationship-based outside sales with advanced Division 8 estimating expertise.
This position supports opportunities from preconstruction through contract award and is ideal for an experienced DFH professional who can manage key accounts, pursue new business, and develop competitive, technically sound bids for complex commercial projects.
Key Responsibilities Outside Sales & Business Development
Identify and pursue new business opportunities with general contractors, construction managers, architects, and developers
Build and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers
Attend client meetings, bid walks, preconstruction conferences, and industry events
Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with organizational growth goals
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure client satisfaction from bid through project execution
Estimating & Technical Expertise
Prepare detailed Division 8 take-offs and estimates based on plans and specifications
Provide guidance on product selection, value engineering, and code compliance (ADA, NFPA, ANSI/BHMA, UL, etc.)
Interpret complex construction documents to identify risks and opportunities
Manage the full bid lifecycle, including vendor pricing, bid strategy, and proposal preparation
Ensure estimates align with internal margin and quality standards
Client & Project Support
Partner with project management and procurement teams to transition awarded projects
Serve as a technical resource for both clients and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regional construction conditions to inform strategy
Required Qualifications
5–10 years of experience in the commercial door, frame, and hardware industry
Prior experience in outside sales and/or senior estimating roles
Strong knowledge of Division 8 products and manufacturers
Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings and specifications
Established relationships with regional contractors, construction managers, or architectural firms
Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards
Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
DHI certifications (AHC, CDC, EHC) or equivalent credentials
Experience with estimating software such as Pro-Tech
Exposure to access control hardware and integrated security solutions
Familiarity with local building codes and permitting requirements
