Scope of the Position:
Reporting to our Housekeeping Management/Supervisory team, the Laundry Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of hotel linen, public areas, and communicating effectively with other team members to prevent and resolve any issues.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and execute 5-star Forbes and 5 Diamonds AAA standards.
Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards, and correct maintenance and use of equipment.
Ability to sort, wash and clean hotel linen and terry by operating all laundry machinery in accordance with hotel's standards.
Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Using equipment only as intended.
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
Use cleaning chemicals according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
Sort all stained/damaged items and determine status for rewash or discard; maintain continuous inventory of discard items.
Transport cart of washed linen to dryers and place in dryers according to load size. Set dryers to designated times and temperatures for the specific articles to be dried.
Remove articles from dryer when cycle is complete and place in clean linen cart. Transport cart to proper work area for finishing. Remove lint and debris from dryer filters and change filters.
Issue clean table linens, service towels and rags to Food and Beverage team members.
Report faulty equipment, damaged garments/linens, shortages, maintenance needs, safety hazards and problems to management.
Skills/Knowledge Required
The ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve a designated goal.
The ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent Hotel data.
Flexible schedule - willing and able to work shift duties that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill necessary tasks.
Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
Must be able to stand and exert well‑paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
Must be able to work under variable temperature conditions (or extreme heat or cold), variable noise levels, and around chemicals.
Qualification Standards
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent education preferred.
Experience:
1 to 2 years previous experience in a similar position in a luxury hotel preferred.
Grooming:
All colleagues must maintain a neat and well‑groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided).
