Salary: $65,000-$72,000 +10% bonus, depending on skill and experience
Location: Glen Rock, NJ (Hybrid: 4 days in office, 1 day remote)
Applegreen is in a significant growth phase and is seeking to recruit a
Staff Accountant
to join our Fixed Asset and Lease Accounting Team. As our US business continues to expand and evolve, the responsibilities of this role may adapt over time to meet the changing needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of this role will focus on the following areas:
Support the month-end and year-end close processes for leases, fixed assets, and royalties.
Perform accounting and reporting for the company’s lease portfolio, including fixed and variable rent, percentage rent calculations, state reporting, etc.
Generate rent statements to report sales and rent due to states.
Serve as a liaison to address and resolve any state-related requests.
Handle accounting and reporting for royalties:
Prepare royalty calculations for brands.
Generate royalty statements to report sales and royalties due to the brands.
Report weekly and monthly sales to brands.
Collaborate with accounts payable to ensure timely and accurate payment of rent and royalties.
Review monthly fixed asset invoices, categorize additions, and import them into the subledger.
Maintain schedules for motor vehicle leases, software amortization, and franchise fee amortization, and prepare related journal entries.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for royalties, franchise fees, computer software, and motor vehicles.
Education, Experience & Skills
Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting.
2-4 years of accounting experience , preferably in retail or consumer products.
Previous experience in lease accounting and fixed assets is a plus.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Highly detail-oriented with the ability to multitask effectively.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and adapt to changing priorities as needed.
Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new processes and systems.
Positive, solution-focused mindset and a “can-do” attitude.
Excellent time management, analytical, and organizational skills.
Strong initiative and a focus on continuous process improvement.
