Dvm Launch
Associate Mixed Animal Veterinarian-Chatham Veterinary Clinic
Dvm Launch, Chatham, Virginia, United States, 24531
Do you enjoy switching from kittens to cattle to horses—sometimes all before noon? Are you equally comfortable holding a stethoscope, an OB chain, and a lead rope? If you said “yes” (or at least didn’t immediately run away), we’d love to meet you.
About the Role We’re seeking a
Mixed Animal Veterinarian
with
small animal, food animal, and equine responsibilities . You’ll provide compassionate, high‑quality care to pets, livestock, and horses while navigating a schedule that is never boring and occasionally humbling.
What You’ll Do
Diagnose, treat, and occasionally negotiate with dogs, cats, cattle, horses, and small ruminants
Perform preventative care, lameness exams, reproductive work, dentistry, and emergency services
Conduct farm and barn calls where mud, dust, and “creative restraint” are part of the charm
Educate clients who care deeply about their animals
Keep thorough medical records—even after a long day that started at dawn
What We’re Looking For
DVM or equivalent (required by law and strongly preferred by our patients)
Interest or experience in mixed animal and equine practice
Comfort working independently in the field and collaboratively with a team
Ability to adapt when the “quick horse check” becomes a full afternoon event
Sense of humor, strong work ethic, and appreciation for good boots
What We Offer
Competitive salary with production opportunities
Benefits package including CE allowance and paid time off
Supportive 7‑doctor team with mentorship
Equipment (all the toys) and vehicles to make field work manageable
A practice where your skills are valued across species
Brand new 17,000 sq ft hospital and equine barn
Bonus Points If You:
Can safely dodge a horse’s head while floating teeth
Know the difference between a “quiet” barn and too quiet barn
Own more pairs of boots than shoes
Can explain to a client why their horse is, in fact, not “just being dramatic”
If you’re looking for a career that blends medicine, problem‑solving, and the occasional adrenaline rush, this might be the perfect fit.
Apply today and join a practice where your patients range from lap‑sized to half a ton—and all deserve great care.
