Position Purpose All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI’s vision to be among the kindest, highest quality health systems in the country.
Provides direct patient care within the level of training as a paramedic on patient population of neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Performs in the hospital setting under the direct supervision of registered nurse or physician as credentialed by the hospital Medical Executive Committee. Performs other unit specific duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
Performs as Paramedic in the Emergency Department
Participates in process improvement for the department assigned
Performs patient-focused care
Participates in activities designed to improve health care delivery
Completes assigned goals
Stays current on all licensure and certifications
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Certification:
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
PHTLS (Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support).
Licensure:
Current, valid EMCT Paramedic Certification through the state of Arizona
One year experience as a Paramedic.
Preferences Experience:
Previous hospital-based experience
Special Position Requirements Exposure Categories:
Category I: Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues
Other potential hazard(s): possible exposure to chemical, biological, and radioactive substances; possible exposure to hostile individuals
Work Requirements
Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.
Able to manage technical business equipment i.e., phone, fax, computer etc.
Able to assist with the movement of an adult patient weighing up to 300 lbs.
Able to care for patients with infectious diseases.
Able to sit for 3-5 hours per day; Able to stand for 3-5 hours per day; Able to walk for 3-5 hours day.
Incumbent must be able to:
distinguish appropriate colors
Capable of consistently reaching and/or working above and below shoulder level
