Position: Pipefitter – Hopewell, VA The Pipefitter lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and maintains piping and piping systems, fittings, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems. This non‑exempt role reports to the Foreman and follows specific procedures with frequent quality checks.
Responsibilities Selects the appropriate size, type, and material of pipe according to job specifications; inspects work sites for obstructions; plans installation sequences to avoid conflicts; cuts, threads, and bends pipe; assembles and installs a variety of metal and non‑metal pipe fittings; joins pipe using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints; secures pipe to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers; installs and maintains refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems; tests piping systems for leaks.
Qualifications
Must have NCCER credentials or be able to pass a craft test.
Must be a local candidate.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
1–4 years of experience in the specified skill, depending on mechanic level.
Must meet job‑site safety requirements (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel‑toe boots, etc.).
Required safety gear: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.
Candidate must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
Compensation Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary: $35 per hour.
