Overview The University of Miami School of Architecture (U-SoA) invites applications for full‑time, tenure‑track appointments in Architecture at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate a focused program of design‑based or applied research while showing a commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. The appointment will align with one or multiple areas of strategic investment:
Sustainable and Resilient Design
Building Technology
Environmental Systems
Landscape
Design Computation
Digital Fabrication
We are committed to social and environmental resilience, interdisciplinary inquiry, and impactful agency both locally and globally. Our mission‑driven research and curriculum address contemporary environmental challenges and related stressors. This search, and for all specializations mentioned above, will prioritize candidates whose work tackles these problems in the making, enhancement, and experience of the built environment.
Qualifications A PhD is preferred, but a terminal professional degree may also qualify when paired with substantial experience and accomplishments in the field. To encourage interdisciplinarity, applications from candidates with a terminal degree outside of Architecture will also be considered, provided their work focuses on the built environment.
The search committee will evaluate the candidates’:
Ability and/or demonstrated potential to secure external research funding to support an active research agenda
Proven ability to publish peer‑reviewed books or articles in leading disciplinary journals
Applications must include the following:
Cover letter stating your expertise and anticipated contributions to U-SoA
Curriculum vitae
Research statement
Teaching statement
Contact information for three references (which will not be contacted without prior consent)
Portfolio of publications and creative works
