Position Summary
Field Service Technicians are key representatives of Allegheny Surface Technology and play a critical role in meeting and exceeding customer expectations. The Field Service Technician supports field service operations by performing assigned tasks at customer locations, often with short notice (up to 24 hours). This role processes customer-supplied parts and equipment in accordance with established company procedures and job requirements.
When field service work is limited, the field service technician will complete required workdays in one of the Allegheny Bradford Corporation production areas based on their skills and experience. Continuous training and development are expected to support growth within the technician role.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform field service work independently or as part of a team, depending on job assignment.
Work safely at all times, protect the environment, and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Reliably report to customer locations as scheduled; dependability is critical to coworkers and customers.
Represent AST’s values with professionalism, technical skill, and a strong customer-focused mindset.
Fulfill all requirements outlined in the customer purchase order and job worksheet.
Communicate closely with the Sales Manager to understand job scope and resolve issues with a focus on customer satisfaction.
Provide feedback related to field jobs, equipment performance, and teamwork.
Field Service Technician – Role-Specific Responsibilities
Serve as a confined space attendant while on customer sites.
Complete tasks aligned with current skill qualifications.
When working as part of a team, promptly notify the Field Service Technician III (FT3) of:
Equipment maintenance needs
Customer questions or concerns
When working independently, communicate issues directly to the Sales Manager.
Assist the FT3 with loading, unloading, and cleaning field service equipment and vehicles.
Required Qualifications
Valid driver’s license and compliance with the Motor Vehicle Operations Program and Employee Handbook guidelines
Ability to meet customer‑specific requirements, which may include:
Site‑specific safety training
Drug, COVID, or other testing
Vaccination, background checks, or quarantine protocols
Physical ability to perform confined space attendant duties
Travel shall be anticipated approximately 21 days per calendar month. This includes weekends and holidays as needed. You will be guaranteed a minimum of 8 days off duty per month.
