Description The incumbent will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments (diagnostic, surgical, therapy, physician office visits and other procedures/treatments). They will obtain and verify necessary demographic and insurance information, register patients, and enter data into the scheduling system. This position requires the incumbent to work in a call‑center type environment and meet individual quality metrics. The candidate will practice the Baptist Health philosophy of service excellence by providing professional, compassionate and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians and community members.
Qualifications
High School, certifications, GED, training or equivalent experience.
Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
Ability to work in a high‑volume, fast‑paced work environment.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Detail oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
Desired: Basic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
Experience with computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, EMR applications, etc.) and accurate typing skills.
Knowledge of regulatory guidelines to include, but not limited to, HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA and Medicare coverage structure, including medical necessity compliance guidelines.
Bilingual in English and Spanish/Creole.
Minimum required experience: Less than 1 year. Healthcare experience required. Insurance verification and scheduling experience strongly preferred.
