Base Pay Range $42,641.00/yr - $52,413.00/yr

Duties Description

Design clerical processing procedures.

Gather, compile, and prepare data from manual or automated files and other sources for various reports, publications, records, or other external or internal communications.

Respond to questions concerning the operation of the unit or program area.

Prepare responses to correspondence.

Resolve work problems.

Review forms and applications and make appropriate determinations.

Coordinate arrangements for meetings, courses, and other gatherings; arrange for rooms, take attendance, and ensure that appropriate materials and equipment are available.

Minimum Qualifications

Current civil service eligible list for this title will be canvassed; candidates must be reachable on the list to be eligible for appointment.

One (1) year of clerical experience.

Eligibility for NY HELPS, 55‑b/c, or other civil service programs; candidates must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications for the position.

For 55‑b/c appointments, at least one year of permanent or contingent‑permanent qualifying service and a current Civil Service 55‑b/c letter of eligibility.

Reassignment qualifications: Current NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation employees only, with at least one year of permanent or contingent permanent qualifying service as an Office Assistant 2; if less than one year, must be reachable on the current Office Assistant 2 eligible list for this location.

Reinstatement under Rule 5.4: Previously permanently employed by New York State in this title may be reinstated within one year of the date of separation; employees separated for more than one year may be reinstated upon approval of the New York State Civil Service Commission.

52.7 Non‑Competitive Program (NCP) qualifications: Candidates must be in the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation promotion field and have at least one year of permanent or contingent permanent qualifying service as an Office Assistant 1.

70.1 Transfer qualifications: At least one year of permanent or contingent permanent service in a qualifying title; must not be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.

Applicants must provide the last four digits of their social security number in their email response or on their resume for state history review.

Additional Requirements

Valid driver’s license that allows legal operation of a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.

Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
