Responsibilities
Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Register sales on assigned cash register, providing customers with courteous, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
Assist pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, verify correct medication, and measure/count medications.
Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits such as greeting, eye contact, courtesy, and Walgreens service traits such as proactive help, identifying needs, and serving until satisfied.
Provide customers with courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service.
Recommend items for sale and recommend trade‑up or companion items.
Register customer purchases on assigned cash register, collect cash and distribute change, process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds and exchanges, and take customers to the OTC aisle when possible.
Keep counters and shelves clean, well merchandised, take inventory and maintain records; check in and price merchandise as required or directed by store manager or shift leader.
Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager, including using pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine accuracy, checking for possible interactions, and assisting pharmacists with scheduling and workflow.
Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and the Quality Improvement Program; review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
Strictly adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
Process (correct) and resubmit manual claims for third‑party program prescription services efficiently, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Assist and support the Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking and storing pharmaceutical shipments, and maintaining knowledge of company asset‑protection techniques; file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.
Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise displays; complete resets and revisions as directed.
Assist with separation of food items (raw foods from pre‑cooked) and product placement per policies (e.g., raw and frozen meats on bottom shelves); assist in stock rotation using first‑in, first‑out and restock outs.
Have working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster printing and creative machines, and suggestive sell of promotional photo products.
Assume web pick‑up responsibilities (monitor orders in Picture Care Plus, pick items, deliver orders to customers).
Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to ensure clean, neat, orderly store condition and appearance.
Comply with all company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.
Attend training and complete PPLs requested by manager or assigned by corporate, and acquire continuing education credits; maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
Prefer good math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
Prefer good computer skills.
Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
Prefer PTCB certification.
