Asphalt Plant Operator

Headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky, the Mountain Companies (Mountain Enterprises, Mountain Materials, and Mountain Aggregates) provide asphalt paving and aggregate services across Kentucky. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Read work schedules and determine sequence of operations.
Operate plant according to production schedule using appropriate materials.
Monitor material operation to ensure quality of mix.
Perform basic maintenance and service on plant equipment.
Clean control house and yard facility daily.
Oversee truck scales and truck loading.
Enter production information into computer systems.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise plant employees.
Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or GED preferred; one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write correspondences and memos.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability Apply common sense to carry out written or oral instructions; work well with others in group or one‑on‑one settings.
Computer Skills Knowledge of inventory and order processing systems; use of job‑specific computer system for ticketing and radio communications.
Certificates, Licences, Registrations Driver’s licence required; CDL a plus.
Physical Demands Frequent sitting, climbing, and use of hands to signal and handle equipment. Occasional standing, walking, crawling, kneeling, bending, and reaching with hands and arms above shoulders. Ability to lift or move up to 50–75 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
Work Environment Exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather, and extreme cold or heat. Noise level typically moderate to loud.
